I live in Claregalway, Co. Galway, Ireland with my wife Mary, son Mark (10) and daughters Emma (7), and Sophie (1). I work in a University in Ireland as the University WWW technologist. My wife, Mary, is a full-time student in the same college. She went back to college full-time in 2004, to study for a B.A. in History and Psychology. This was followed by a Masters in History, and she is currently researching a PhD in History.
Work:
I'm the WWW Technologist in the National University of Ireland, Galway, where I'm responsible for NUI Galway's web servers and site functionality. I code the client-side stuff like the high-contrast switching, text zoom and link search as well as the server-side, database driven stuff like the internal content management system.
Spare Time:
Right now, I am half way through a 2yr Masters in IT (via distance-learning) which means I do 20 hours of studying each week on top of my usual work week, and time with my family. This doesn't leave much room for anything else.
Even though I'm no designer, I sometimes get roped into creating web sites for friends/family. I don't do many because they take so long and I don't have a huge pile of free time. Sites I've done include:
