Once we got our planning permission, we rang the builder to accept the quote he had given us. He called around the next working day to begin the foundation.
The extension was timber-frame so it went up very quickly.
It was all over very quickly (looking back now) but it seemed to take forever - especially since they were knocking walls inside and the resulting dust meant that we were spending all our time in our (small) old sitting room.
The dining room was used as a storage area. It's attached to the kitchen (which was being extended) so there was dust everywhere.
